The city of Rio de Janeiro offers countless possibilities for the staging of an international conference. Famously known for its breathtaking landscape, Rio de Janeiro is a natural tourist destination, with a brilliant and varied offer of restaurants, accommodation listings and nightlife.

The natural inclination of Rio de Janeiro as a hosting city, makes its choice as the venue of a scientific congress a sure deal. The home of many universities and institutes, Rio de Janeiro is the second-largest center of research and development in Brazil, accounting for about 20% of the national scientific output.

Rio de Janeiro has the second largest municipal GDP in Brazil and the 30th largest in the world, estimated at nearly US$ 201 billion. Rio is the location of the main offices of various Brazilian large corporations, including Petrobras and Vale do Rio Doce, the two biggest Brazilian multinational corporations.  One of the most visited cities in the world, Rio de Janeiro hosted the 2016 Summer Olympic Games and the 2014 World Cup.
